Just a continuing collection of songs that have touched my heart and brought healing to some very tough situations:
My Three Songs
- You are My Sunshine
- Praise You in the Storm
- I can only imagine
My favourite songs all have special meaning to me… the first one has been mine for a very long time. When I was four years old my Dad played guitar. We it wasn’t really playing in that sense, but chording and strumming. Anyway we were able to produce a song out of that. Anyway getting back to my dad… he would play for me and I would sing, You are my Sunshine. My fondest memory is of him and me making music together and singing “You are my Sunshine, my only Sunshine You make me happeeee when skies are gray. You’ll never know dear, how much I love you, please don’t take my sunshine away. “I always ended on that “happeeee” part on a really high note and everyone would laugh, especially my Dad. I still have the recording of the time when my Dad recorded the two of us singing together. This will always be a special memory and special song.
When I first heard Praise You in the Storm, I was dealing with some very difficult issues in my life and I immediately took to the song as a personal prayer for this time. It had words like I was sure by now God you would have reached down and wiped our tears away, stepped in and saved the day. These words were my prayer because I couldn’t pray during this time. “I will praise you in this storm and I will lift my hands, for you are who you are, no matter where I am and every tear you’ve cried, God holds in His hands, You’ve never left my side and when your heart is torn, I will praise you in the storm.”
The last song, I can only imagine is a sweet song of worship to my best friend Jesus. It is a song that talks about what it could be like when we meet Jesus face to face and he wipes every tear I can only imagine, what it will be like, just to walk by your side. “I can only imagine when my life is through I will forever, forever worship you.” It is a wonder of what my heart will feel when we see the Master. This I can only imagine. To see Jesus and to walk with Him would be my hearts greatest thrill.
